These fabulous earrings were crafted in Czechoslovakia in the 1980s. Each earring showcases a single cut pyrope garnet, bezel set in 900 silver plated with gold. The openwork, minimalist design makes these earrings suitable for all ages and outfits. A wonderful pair of earrings for January babies!
Bohemian garnets came from Bohemia's hills in Czechoslovakia and were very popular from the 1820s to the 1920s with the European upper class. To learn more about Bohemian garnets, read our blog post here:
The earrings are in very good vintage condition with minimal signs of wear. The gold plate's surface has fine lines and marks, nothing visible, and the plate is slightly worn around the edges on the front. The garnet is not chipped or cracked and does not wiggle in the mounting. The ear wires are a little asymmetric but are easy to bend and manipulate; they are delicate. The lever-backs are fully functional and do not stick. The earrings are stamped with a rabbit's head and the number 3, the Czechoslovakian fineness mark for 900 silver for 1955-1965.
The earrings measure 3/4" tall and 1/4" wide. The box is for display only.
